Kentucky 2-1-1: The plan is complete!
In late 2008, UWKY reinvigorated our long-standing effort to bring the 2-1-1 information and referral service to the entire state, and are proud to say that we brought together a partnership of government, private and non-profit leaders to address the matter. To that end, we began the process of rewriting the statewide plan, along with national 2-1-1 consultants, Kenn Allen and Tom Page, which was completed in early 2009. The plan was presented to the UWKY board of directors in May 2009 and to the Public Service Commission on July 23.

UWKY is promoting KCHIP...and is succeeding.
United Way of Kentucky has been provided with a $175,000 grant to expand access to services across Kentucky. A portion of this grant is being utilized to increase the enrollment of uninsured children in the Kentucky Child Health Insurance Program (KCHIP).
Currently, there are estimates of 42,000 eligible children who are not enrolled in KCHIP or Medicaid. This comes after a largely successful first 8 months of the KCHIP initiative, in which over 20,000 children were enrolled in either KCHIP or Medicaid. Late last year, Governor Steve Beshear announced an aggressive goal of getting 35,000 unserved children enrolled by 2011. In conjunction with Cabinet of Health and Family Services, an aggressive campaign was launched and through the efforts of your United Ways and other Kid's Health Squad partners, we are well on our way to meeting that goal.
United Ways across the state are providing information about KCHIP to their funded agencies, the local media and community healthcare providers.
